Gastown Pressed Tin

Author’s photo. Pressed-tin tile at le Magasin/Homer St. Arcade, 332 Water St (Gastown), 2014.

This is a pressed-tin ceiling panel from inside “le Magasin” in Gastown (332 Water Street). The building was constructed in 1912 (Bertram Dudley Stuart and Howard E. White, architects) and has been known by different names over the years, including “Cloth Hill” and “Homer Street Arcade”. It has an unusual design, with one entrance off of Water Street and another off of the West Cordova alley.
