Among the intriguing elements to be seen when you click on the image above (for a closer view), is Harrron Bros., Undertakers (mid-image on the right). Note: I checked the name of the firm against BC Directories for the early years of the 20th century – it was Harron Bros. – and found in the business classifieds in 1903 that there was a surprising re-direct for readers seeking “Undertakers”. See: Furniture Makers!

Note also the construction fellows working on the top floor of the building closest to the viewer on the right (what appears to have been the Hotel Barron in progress). No safety gear is visible, and the men are apparently totally reliant on the integrity of the boards (which were presumably what passed for scaffolding) that protruded from the window.
