  1. Great pictures of Agnew Surpass- Thanks for sharing. Agnew Shoes was founded in Brantford, Ontario in 1879, and merged in 1928 with Surpass Stores. In 1962 the chain was acquired by American firm Genesco, and in 1987 it was sold to a numbered company controlled by former Bata Shoe executive Michael Graye. The chain went bankrupt in 2000 and closed all 223 stores across Canada.

    I worked at Agnews in Ontario first as an after school student, then full time for a year – the picture above looks very much like the first store I worked at: Dorwin Plaza in Windsor Ontario
